HOME EYE TESTS
DH Dwyer Opticians has invested in the best mobile equipment to ensure that we provide a modern and comprehensive eye examination.
Some patients, such as those with learning disabilities or communication difficulties, find the use of a traditional letter chart problematic. However, using modern hand held computers we can present images to which some patients may respond much more successfully.
Portable Slit Lamp
Allows the optometrist to examine the eye in detail for signs of infection. This is an important tool for accurate diagnosis of anterior eye problems, for example Conjunctivitis, Dry Eye, Blepharitis.
PanOptic Ophthalmoscopes,
Provide a large field of view of the retina, offer advantages over more traditional direct ophthalmoscopes.
Retinoscope
Allows the optician to gain accurate results for spectacles even with patients who have communication difficulties. Not only does a retinoscope provide details of the spectacle prescription but it is also able to pick up signs of disease within the eye, such as Cataract.
iCare Tonometer®
The iCare Tonometer® enables us to measure intraocular pressure
without the need for eye drops. This is valuable in examining for the
presence of Glaucoma. This instrument is particularly good
at obtaining results even where patients have difficulty
tolerating other forms of tonometry.
