HOME VISITING OPTICIAN IN CARDIFF

Patients who still live in their own home and are unable to visit a high street Opticians practice unaccompanied may be entitled to an NHS sight test in their own home

Based in South Wales, our opticians regularly provide home eye tests within Cardiff. Our optician will visit your home at a time convenient for you, bringing with them the same high quality portable optical equipment used for sight tests in residential and nursing homes.

What to expect from your Cardiff opticians home visit

The Optician will visit at a convenient time for you.
You should allow around one hour for the sight test. You are welcome to have a relative or carer present with you, although it is best not to have too many people present.

 

The Optician will ask you about your general health and any history of problems with your eyes. Family history of eye problems is also relevant. The thorough eye examination will assess the health of your eyes and determine the need for any spectacle prescription. It may be necesarry to put drops in your eyes to dilate your pupils and this allows the optician to get an better look at the retina.

What happens after your home eye test

After the eye test has been carried out, the optician will explain their findings, and any further recommendations, such as referral to your GP or hospital, or any need for a change in your spectacle prescription.
A selection of frames will be available for you to look at, try on, and make a selection, should you need a new pair of spectacles.

 

When your new spectacles are ready, we will visit to deliver them and check that they are satisfactory. We are then only a phone call away for minor repairs and adjustments.
